Acts 16:25 tells us that, “About midnight, Paul and Silas were praying...”
As they prayed, Paul and Silas moved into worship mode. Now remember, worship always precedes praise! Worship is how we esteem God – worship is an attitude of adoration toward our Heavenly Father. You can worship God without making a sound. Praise, however, is the articulation of that adoring heart. When we praise God, we give vent and voice to our heart of worship. So, worship has to do with ESTIMATION. Praise has to do with ARTICULATION.
Worship can be silent, but praise never is.
Today, we have much to praise God for. Today, let the redeemed of the Lord say so! This morning, may those who have been provided for praise their God! If God has given you a few victories shout Hallelujah!
THERE ARE THOSE TIMES WHEN A LITTLE PRAISE IS APPROPO!
As Paul and Silas prayed, that prison was transformed from a place of pain into a place of praise.
Verse 25 tells us that Paul and Silas began to sing hymns of praise to God! Can you see it? First, they worshipped and then they praised!
We do not know what they sang, but we can be sure that they did not sing the famous Hee Haw song that goes like this, “Gloom, despair and agony on me. Deep dark depression, excessive misery. If it weren’t for bad luck we’d have no luck at all. Gloom, despair and agony on me.”
